Over Art-a-Whirl weekend, Public Functionary in collaboration with In The Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater will present a retrospective gallery installation celebrating 40 years of the MayDay Parade through a Public Functionary style presentation. The installation will feature parade puppets up close, artwork, photography and narrative to honor the past 40 years of this annual Twin Cities community tradition. This collaboration between Public Functionary and In The Heart of the Beast aligns a new Northeast Minneapolis art organization with a long-standing South Minneapolis institution to bridge communities and neighborhood celebrations built on art and culture.
