Westside Progressives July Meeting - Topic:  Immigration

The July 22, 2014 meeting of the Westside Progressives will examine the economic and social impact of immigration in Minnesota.  The Westside Progressives is a nonpartisan educational forum for progressive-thinkers in the west metro suburbs.

The topic will be addressed by Sarah Radosevich of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and Allison Churilla Liuzzi of Minnesota Compass.  The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce will draw from its recently released report on the economic impact of immigration. 

Ms. Liuzzi is a Research Scientist with the Minnesota Compass project at Wilder Research. She works with national and state data sources to describe notable trends in the state and to measure progress on topics related our shared quality of life in Minnesota.

Ms. Radosevich is the Policy Research Analyst for the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, and co-author of the 2013 report “The Economic Contributions of Immigrants in Minnesota” with Dr. Bruce P Corrie of Concordia University. Her work for the State Chamber has included quantitative and qualitative research on immigrant capital, Minnesota’s electric rates, transportation funding, and workforce development among other topics. Prior to joining the Chamber, Sarah worked with the Greater Twin Cities United Way to quantify the results of investments in workforce programs. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the Sanford School at Duke University.

The Westside Progressives meet on the fourth Tuesday each month at the Plymouth Kelly Inn (Hwy 55/494). $10 pizza/salad dinner. 6 p.m. doors open, 6:15 dinner, 7 pm program.
