Poetry Out Loud, October 3Come on out to the Loft’s Poetry Out Loud program’s special evening, showcasing East African voices! Special guest Congressman Keith Ellison will read from his book and share his experiences connecting with Minnesota State Poetry Out Loud champion Faiza Abubakar at the National Competition. The evening will also include short readings by Lula Saleh, Sarah Ogutu, Abdi Phenomenal and Abdihamid Geyre.

Twin Cities Oktoberfest October 3 - 4
The Oktoberfest fun continues this weekend, and this time at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. In addition to beer, this year’s event will feature a caricaturist, a photo booth, a cigar roller and authentic German clothing. There's also a big tent out back in the State Fair campground area with additional food options, games and vendors.

West Broadway Popups: Forward/50 – Minneapolis Art on Wheels, October 4
Enjoy an outdoor projection event that asks the question: What will north Minneapolis look like in 50 years? Members of the north Minneapolis community will share their appreciation for the neighborhood, and dreams for the future, by performing short gif-style animation with an artist from Minneapolis Art on Wheels (MAW). Event highlights include the creation of real time animation using MAW technology, and a large-scale projection after dark that connects the neighborhood with participants and viewers.
