Please join us for the Health Commons in Cedar-Riverside neighborhood 3rd year celebration at the Cedar Cultural Center! Everyone is welcome to join us and celebrate the work being done in the community around health and healing at the Health Commons and to learn more about the programs and activities being offered. Modest appetizers and beverages will be served.
The Taleex Band will be performing, and the event will also include lectures and storytelling.
All participants in the celebration will receive a FREE ticket to the Fishing Without Nets film screening at 8 p.m.
The Health Commons is a drop-in center that is dedicated to serving those in the Cedar-Riverside area with a focus on healthy individuals and community. Their services are free of charge and open to everyone. They represent a collaborative effort between Augsburg College Department of Nursing, University of Minnesota Medical Center – Fairview, and the East Africa Health Project. The majority of their current funding is provided through a grant from UCare.
Health Commons Mission: "Our mission is to provide simple supplies needed for health, to make connections to new ideas, to link individuals and resources in the community, and to make connections to each other. Our nursing practice at the Health Commons is founded on hospitality and relationship development that leads to transcultural understanding and health benefits for all participants.
