When Places Speak is a photography exhibit that aims to start dialogues around the "placeness" of sex trafficking. The crime of juvenile sex trafficking is attached to places—places where youth are recruited, places where ads are posted online, places used by purchasers to meet victims, places used by law enforcement to stop trafficking, and places where victims can heal.

When Places Speak
is curated by College of Design Associate Professor Tasoulla Hadjiyanni with photographs by Xavier Tavera and Shiraz Mukarram. The exhibit was produced in partnership with UROC and made possible by funding from the University's Imagine Fund for the Arts, Humanities, and Design and the Institute for Advanced Studies' Sex Trafficking Collaborative.
