Black Label Movement

Twin Cities-based dance theater company Black Label Movement creates wildly physical work that embraces risks and pushes physical and artistic boundaries. How risky, you ask? Well, the troupe's catchphrase is: "We do our own stunts." Their Cowles Center program includes the world premiere of Alleged Dances, performed with the nationally-recognized chamber musicians of Minneapolis' Bakken Trio. The piece enhances and illuminates John's Book of Alleged Dances, an electrified quartet by the famous musical innovator John Adams. BLM's performance also features the premiere of An Unkindness of Ravens, artistic director Carl Flink's edgy commission from the 2014 American Dance Festival.
