Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra breaks it down -- literally -- in its latest concert Sectional Healing. For the first pieces of this program at Sundin Music Hall, the Orchestra will disassemble, each section performing as its own ensemble. The strings will be featured in A Downland Suite whereas the woodwinds and brass are set to shine in Stravinsky's Symphonies of Wind Instruments. The "healing" begins when the orchestra rejoins for a concerto featuring an instrument not usually in the spotlight, the noble tuba, in Vaughan Williams'Tuba Concerto in F minor. Falla's The Three-Cornered Hat, a piece that memorably integrates every section through Spanish folk melodies, will finish reuniting the players at the conclusion of this very special concert.
