According to a legend that has been frightening Icelandic children for centuries, the terrifying giantess Grýla lives in a mountain cave and feasts on a stew of naughty children. Now, the Twin Cities' own Zenon Dance Company will reimagine that folktale and explore -- through a world-premiere dance work -- whether folktales have a hold on today's younger generations at all. This exciting performance will also feature a world-premiere piece by Netta Yerushalmy (whose last work for Zenon was Hello, My Name is Catherine) and reprises of some company favorites. A modern- and jazz-dance repertory ensemble renowned for its artistic virtuosity and emotional intelligence, ZDC is a favorite among critics and audiences alike for its use of fearless physicality in dance.
