Making Fairview Friendly with the Friendly Streets Initiative and Feline Rescue, Inc.
593 Fairview Avenue North, Saint Paul3-7pm Saturday July 19th, 2014
A free, kid-friendly celebration with free food, live music, kitty cat crafts & poetry, a bike rodeo and free tune-ups, used bicycle tube recycling, birdhouse artmaking, and more!
This project is a partnership with Hamline Midway Coalition and Union Park District Council to imagine a friendlier Fairview for everyone, whether you’re traveling on two feet, four paws, or two or more wheels.
Artist projects include a remount of the Irrigate Birdhouse Rainbow project by Lisa Hassebrock and Tod Skallerup, and a Spark Your Imagination! performance from 5-7pm by Mira and Tom Kehoe's Xibaba. Local writer Susan Solomon will be in attendance for a book signing and reading from her cat-inspired poetry chapbook Genius. Free food provided by Lucy Coffee Cafe.
The Friendly Streets Initiative works to engage communities to transform public space. Through creative public engagement events with images, maps, food, art, and community activities, we invite residents and business owners alike to dialogue and imagine the future of their street. Our work gives neighborhoods tools and resources to transform public space, with a focus on healthy, safe, fun walking and biking, and creative placemaking. Visit fsimn.org for more information on this street project and others in Saint Paul.
